Things I've built.

The first database dedicated to nutritional fatty acids — structures, names, cross-references, 2D and 3D interactive models, nutritional sources, metabolites, biosynthesis pathways, and much more!.
The database
Every relevant fatty acid in one sortable table: type and shorthand (e.g. PUFA 18:2 ω-6), the structure, trans and conjugated flags, and where it comes from — foods and synthesis. Filter by class, omega position and chain length; pick columns, export, or go full page.

Interactive Models
Shape the molecule and step through its bonds: a 2D structure with every carbon numbered and each double bond labelled, a 3D model that turns and zooms, your own phospholipid, and a membrane patch that shows how saturation changes packing, thickness and fluidity.

Interactive Pathways
Cross-referenced IDs
LearnInteractive Pathways
Where a fatty acid is made, and from what: every elongase and desaturase step between the ω-3 and ω-6 families — here the last steps to DHA (ELOVL2/4, FADS2, ACOX1).
Cross-referenced IDs
One click to PubChem, LIPID MAPS, ChEBI, HMDB, KEGG, DrugBank, MeSH, FooDB and more, grouped the way people look for them.
Learn
Short topics for newcomers: what fat is, fats vs carbs vs proteins, the anatomy of a fatty acid, and the forms you meet most often.

Fold Proteins
Build a protein one amino acid at a time — and watch physics fold it in 3D, right in your browser.
Build or load a protein, and watch it fold
Click amino acids to add them to the chain. Each one joins the end, and the chain starts folding as it grows — the way a new protein starts folding as it leaves the ribosome.

Build it. Pull it. Grab it. Fold it.
Swap the physics
Fold the same chain under different open-source physics models, and switch each force on or off to see what it does. Turn off the hydrophobic effect and the protein never finds its core.
Grab it. Pull it. Let go.
Drag any part of the chain and feel the physics push back: bonds stretch, side chains swing, and when you let go, the protein settles into a new shape. Turn and zoom to see it from every side.
When folding goes wrong
Learn about misfolding: see which amino acids various reactive agents can bond to, and how that changes the way the protein folds.

Stretch it. Bend it. Load it. Misfold it!
Your fold vs. AlphaFold
Load real structures from public databases — the AlphaFold prediction, or experimental PDB structures from X-ray and electron microscopy — and put them next to the one you folded. Where do they agree? Where is AlphaFold itself unsure?

Pub Nav
Free browser extension to improve publications navigation.
Features
- Full sub-section index. Uniquely generates all sub-sections into the index, so you can jump straight to 2.4 or 4.3, not only to Methods or Discussion.
- Tables and figures index. Generates an index of every table and figure in the paper, with thumbnails.

References Navigator
Ref Nav
Provide much improved references navigation in your website(s).
In a pop-up, in place
Instead of scrolling to the bottom, show the relevant references right where the claim is.
Filter by type
Review, RCT, animal study, meta-analysis… one click, with live counts.
Slide-filter by year
A two-handle slider over a histogram of the years — narrow to the recent work.
Open vs. paid
Free papers are marked (with the PDF link first), paywalled ones get a $.
Export
JSON, CSV or text — the current view, the whole tab, or everything. Copy or download.
For and Against
Include references that counter the argument, on their own tab.
Open Source
- Add the files. Simply add
refnav.jsandrefnav.cssto your website. - Provide the references in a standard JSON format — use AI to easily do this for you.

Eyesight Sim
Test your physical product or mobile UI against demographics with ageing eyesight.
Test it before it ships
Presbyopia, the loss of near focus that comes with age, affects nearly everyone over 50. Yet most products are designed and reviewed by people who can still read small grey type at arm's length. Pick a product, set how far from the eyes it is used, choose the eyesight, and compare: the gap closes in a few seconds.

Real optics, not a blur filter
An eye model turns age, prescription, glasses, pupil size and distance into the defocus that is left after the eye has focused as hard as it can. That defocus becomes a blur on the product itself, in millimetres, drawn at true size on your screen.
Five rendering models show it: CSS, SVG, geometric and wavefront (diffraction) point-spread functions on the GPU, and ghosting for double vision. The formulas come from the literature: Hofstetter and Anderson for focusing range by age, Winn for pupil size, Strasburger and Bach & Heinrich for blur, Thibos for astigmatism.
